I'm idle today so that I can help Colleen with her jewelry show. After all, I'm a licensed and certified hoover-er!
Got my second rejection for the Harding Academy Show this coming May, so I'm a little bummed about that, but my joint show with Anne and Brian Sommerville at the Centennial Arts Center is still on for June. I've set aside the landscapes from the Smokies for the moment to concentrate on abstracts for that show.Harry Whitverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14202465466184915378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2229460798124903390.post-75616977441254784992016-12-13T07:52:00.000-08:002016-12-13T07:53:00.657-08:00December 2016Off and running on new work. I took a long weekend and worked plein air in the Smoky Mountains and West Miller's cove, guest of my sweet sister Deb and her husband Ken. Developed four pieces to finish off in the studio. Looks like three of them might survive. In addition, I have some abstract paintings in the works as well.Harry Whitverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14202465466184915378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2229460798124903390.post-50669109185439756852016-12-06T17:16:00.001-08:002016-12-06T17:16:31.261-08:00Post Show HighWhat a hoot! Great chance to chat with friends, both old and new. Justin and Audra at abrasiveMedia were wonderful. Lovely hosts and real professionals. We sold five paintings and three prints, and plan to do another show in 2017. Thanks to everyone that came to the gallery over October. Hope your holidays are everything you wish for.Harry Whitverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14202465466184915378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2229460798124903390.post-56655959396038065742016-10-01T10:03:00.004-07:002016-10-01T10:03:43.633-07:00Nashville Arts October! My upcoming show at Abrasive Media won a mention in Nashville Arts lineup for the October art crawl!
His garage is the upper barn on my wife's family farm; the barn, built by Colleen's father and grandfather in the '20s, is now too fragile to serve its original purpose. With this piece, I've done my duty as a Tennessee artist and painted the obligatory barn, and had a good time doing it.

Oil on Canvas 30"X40" 2008
Harry Whitverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14202465466184915378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2229460798124903390.post-82592189582010395432008-06-08T19:01:00.000-07:002008-06-08T19:11:37.790-07:007: Bill and Sally
I just completed this little piece, taken from a sunny day in 1974, Bill and Sally Davis in their MG TA, bowling along through Percy Warner Park. Though a bit grayer and wiser, the trio can still be seen at speed along the Natchez Trace. This oil took only a few days to complete. Funny how some pieces simply leap from the bristles of the brush. Not so easy with my latest painting. More to come.

Oil on Canvas, 36" X 20" May 2008
Harry Whitverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14202465466184915378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2229460798124903390.post-92161238551728224482008-05-22T12:35:00.000-07:002008-05-22T12:51:05.424-07:006: Jag XK 120
Finally back to painting and posting new work on my blog. This close-up is of the car that changed America forever. The Jaguar XK 120 hit the US like a lightning bolt in 1949, showing everyone what a street legal high performance car could do. It also had the most beautiful lines
of any car of the time.
